A Menor Língua do Mundo

The Materiais Diversos Festival promotes the meeting of different audiences and imaginaries around the arts (dance, theatre, music and performance) with thought, questioning actuality and fostering cultural participation as a condition for citizenship. Born in Minde, in 2009, it spread to Alcanena and Cartaxo (in 2013) and became one of the most representative projects for programming outside the large centres in Portugal, attempting to think and act from the places it originates. It had been occurring annually until 2017 and became a biannual event starting with its 10th edition in 2019.
The next edition of the Materiais Diversos Festival occurs between September 27 and October 5, 2019 in Minde, Alcanena and Cartaxo.
Each biennium, Materiais Diversos defines a set of co-productions, for which it favours above all three elements: the relationship with the territory in which it acts, through research, participation in the local community, training and informal presentations; the increment of dance research and creation for young audiences and the co-production of dance projects.
Materiais Diversos programs artistic residencies throughout the year, with special focus in the field of dance. All the residencies benefit from logistic support, in addition to cash grants to projects in the field of dance. Materiais Diversos mantains longstanding partnerships with some national and foreign organizations, expanding its capacity to support Portuguese dance, as for example their partnerships with Centro Cultural do Cartaxo, the Victor Córdon Studios, Escola Superior de Dança and the Grand Studio (Brussels).
