Materiais Diversos (Various Materials) is the title of the solo project that Tiago Guedes created in 2003, which gave his work national and international recognition. This project has been presented in several festivals and theatres in Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, United Kingdom, Hungary, and Brazil.
In the beginning of 2007 the structure of ‘Poppi Grup’ (created since 2003) invites the choreographer to be its director and give it a fresh outlook and a new project. This structure mainly produced theatre projects (projects of the director Martim Pedroso). Tiago Guedes accepted this challenge at the same time of his departure from the RE.AL structure (which produced his works from 2003 to 2007). Changing the name from ‘Poppi Grup’ to ‘Materiais Diversos’, this “new” structure assimilates its past by continuing to produce the work of the director Martim Pedroso, and turns to the future by putting together all of Tiago Guedes’ different aspects of work: production, promotion, and training.
In time and because we believe that the contact with other artists influences in a positive way our own work, we want to produce different works (artists) by providing conditions that will allow them to develop their own projects with a production foundation and an appropriate support.
